Personally, I prefer my kitties to be ”mutts”. When there are so many lovely cats available in shelters & rescues….why spend a ton of money for one from a breeder?

Persians you have to be prepared to brush everyday or have them shaved because they become so knotted. I love my straight from the pound tabbys though. You should rescue and animal :D

Hi, there is no particular breed better suited to indoors. I just like all cats. If you want your cat to be indoors,( much safer for the cat) make sure it is spayed if female and neutered if male. This will prevent the actions of the female in heat that will drive you nuts, and if the male is neutered early will prevent him from developing the nasty habit of spraying in the house.

To be honest, I don’t know TOO much about specific cat breeds…All 3 of my/my family’s cats have come from various shelters/rescue groups. They are all great cats and each have their own fun unique personalities. Tucker (my parent’s cat) loves to jump up and lay down on top of whatever you might be working on, Carson (my first cat) loves to stay by my side all the time…especially when I’m sick, he loves to snuggle and keep me warm. Stoli (my 2nd cat) is the more adventurous of the bunch…he loves checking everything out and playing with his toys. Both of my two cats are so loving, I don’t know what I’d do without them! I am definitely a proponent of animal adoption…it’s true, there are so many animals out there who could use a loving home (I know, I volunteer a few days a week at a shelter). Unless you are really interested in a specific breed for some reason, I would adopt. Most of the animals we get at the shelter are “DSH/DLH” or domestic short or longhair. I also keep my cats indoors…its much safer for them. Enjoy your new pet! I hope he or she brings you as much joy and love as my cats bring me!

How about a generic house cat? Why spend a lot of money for a bred cat when you can go to a local shelter and adopt one? Both of my cats are adopted and they’re wonderful!

ALL cats belong indoors not “indoors more”. And if you buy a cat from a breeder – which is the only way to be sure you’re getting a specific breed of cat – the contract you sign will state that you WILL keep it indoors.

Before getting any cat please educate yourself about the dangers of letting cats free roam – http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?action=library&act=show&item=indoorsoroutdoors

When you’re ready to keep a cat indoors then go to a shelter and adopt one – of any breed – or of no particular breed http://www.petfinder.com
