How much should I charge for house sitting and watching two cats?

The people I will be house sitting for live in the chicago suburbs in the same town as me. They want me to stay at their house from December 30th to January 4th. They own two new cats who aren’t quite litter trained yet and want me to clean up the house a little while they are gone too. How much should I charge per day?

30 to 50 dollars would be reasonable for what they are asking you to do and for how long they are asking you to do it for. If you do not feel comfortable with this amount ask how much they would be expecting you to charge. Also consider its new years and you are babysitting 2 not house trained animals…

30 bucks a day – also look on craigslist and see what other pet and house sitters are charging

Looking at local resources like newspapers to find what other people are charging is a good idea. You can also look up similar services in the Yellow Pages and call them to ask what they would charge you for the same service. You might also compare it to overnight babysitting services in the neighborhood, but a little less expensive.

And btw, I have never heard of a cat taking more than about one day to become litter box trained.
