    Hello,
    I see 2 problems, one he’s not neutered and and the second you’re the third owner. The poor thing must be wondering what’s going on, they are very smart dogs and is not hard to train them at all but you need to have patience because unless you know his background he could have gone through a lot of emotional ups and downs and this could be the reason why he’s acting up. I trained my peke in one weekend, to go outside and to go on a pad when I’m not home. Every 2 hours I would take her downstairs and place her in the same spot and when she went in the house I would clean the urine with the pad put the pad on the bathromm floor and place her on the pad so that she could smelll the urine there and she started to associate the smell with the weewee pad until she learned.
    Lots of praise and patience pays off.

    Cant !!! I got the same problem I have found that taking him outside every two hours helps stop some but does NOT stop it peeing of course you know is marking habit and a non neutered male will do this ALL ITS LIFE .You might want to try using cage inside house but that ddint stop mine he peed and then laid in it

    When you’re home and he’s not kenneled, you should keep him with you. Don’t allow him in the other room by himself. Being the third home, it’s possible that his bad habits were the result of housebreaking not being reinforced in his previous home. Create a schedule. Kennel at night, potty in the morning, potty every two hours out of the kennel and don’t let him go off by himself.

    Small dogs are often more difficult to house break and the more intelligent and willful the dog, the more difficult it is. Chihuahua can be difficult to train in general. Consider puppy class or doggy good-citizen classes to establish the relationship between you and the dog.

    I understand that many people get these dogs as investments hoping to make money on stud fees and/or litter sales. I hope that you will be a responsible breeder culling for defects and breeding for temper in addition to breed standard.

    Fixing a dog is a great place to start but…

    Also you may try no free water access. Only allow water after walks, play, and eating. and then taking him right out and using the cue word…such as “go pee”. Kenneling will help and a schedule is mandatory especially for a dog that has such a rocky past.

    This can be corrected!
    It is no “Accident”.

    Regular walks outside to keep him emptied out, and if he does go inside you need to punish him.
    the punishment can be in what ever you determine is sufficiant for this dog.
    What I would do is;
    Rub his nose in it to let him know what he did wrong and put him out side to let him know where he is supposed to go. Very important…take the poop outside with you and put it in the place you want him to go. Praise him when he does go there.
    Crate him when you can not be watching him and you think it is getting time for him to do his thing. Watch him and when he does start to go then yell at him and take him to the “Location”.
    Again…praise a job well done.
    Good luck.

    have you tried a pee-pad? I have a chihuahua and he goes to the bathroom on it while I’m at work. Chihuahua’s have small bladders so it’s hard for them to hold it. My dog goes both outside and on the pad. I’d say whenever you catch him in the act you should scold him and if he uses the bathroom in the right spot give him a treat and give him lots of luck. It’s going to be a lot harded b/c he’s not neutered and b/c he’’s new to your home he’s trying the mark his territory. make sure you get the scent out of everything that he peed on. GOOD LUCK!

    normally chihuahua’s are inside dogs.. but yeah… when we first got our chihuahua we trained him with 2 oil trays covered in news paper… if u see him about to go.. put him on the news paper (the oil trays are to prevent leak throughs)… tell him what a good boy he is etc.. and lift up the news paper sheets that are wet.. but try to leave a few sheets down there.. they will have a slight scent on them. attracting them to the newspaper the next time… good luck.
