Hi. I am looking to purchase a boston terrier puppy. I live in los angeles, california. Where can I find a breeder that sells boston terrier for a cheap/reasonable price? How do I know if a website is legitimate? Feel free to provide links and suggestions! Thank you!

Go through the boston terrier parent club and ask for a referral. Or go to your local rescue.

I’m all for adopting from the pound but if you’re looking for a well bred Boston Terrier, you aren’t likely to find it at the pound. A friend of mine bought a Papillon puppy from puppyfind dot com and had no troubles at all. Most of them are BYB’ers though but each ad has to state whether or not the dog is from champion pedigree. If you’re looking for “cheap” don’t expect it to be very well bred. If that’s the case, I agree you should look in the shelters or find a local rescue. Use Google to find the website for a nearby ASPCA and check out what they have available.

Please don’t buy from a breeder. There are thousands of purbred Boston Terriers that need homes. Rescue a dog!

ADD: To answer your question about knowing whether or not a web site is legitimate, well I think that may be just part of the risk you take. I would recommend that you contact the individual, maybe by email first, then by phone. And I definitely would suggest asking for references that you may contact as well (references should be owners who have previously purchased from that individual – of course). Most of all, listen to your inner voice — don’t ignore your instincts.

Go through the Boston Breed club.
DO NOT use the site aj. linked. Their health guarantee is crap. They breed 4 different breeds, they breed dogs of disqualifying faults. They are using pet quality animals to produce low quality pups. Red Bostons are a fault and should not be bred.

Otherwise if price is your motivator go adopt.

think twice about getting a purebred from a reputable breeder they are high priced puppymill.get a mixed less health problems and live longer than purebreds.purebreds are overbred inbred and linebred so much they have alot of health problems as they get older.if you get a purebred don’t go to a reuptable breeder.they care only about conformation and structure nothing about the inside of a dog.they just want that champion show dog.put a ad in your local paper less chance it is inbred that way.vets love reputable breeders because that’s money in their pockets.

If you don’t really require one directly from a breeder, I recommend Petfinder.com as an excellent place to find pets via rescues – I’ve gotten several through them. You can search by breed, so you’ll probably find a few Bostons. There may even be a rescue specifically for Bostons near you.

Please try to find one at a shelter… though he/she may be a few years old, it’s better to save a life than to buy an 8 week old pup. God Bless!
