http://www.petfinder.com/photoView/photoView.cgi?petid=8798120 Do u think this is an Am. Staffordshire Terrier? I’m hoping for a purebred Staffie, but he looks rather cutesy to be a Staff! Any insight?

I don’t think he is purebred but there is at least half in him. Why are you looking for a purebred? Make sure there are papers then you will know otherwise it will be spendy to have a DNA test done.

He does look like a staffie to me. He’s still young so that’s probably why he looks so cutesy. Whoever cropped his ears did a real hack job. I hate when people crop ears and tails!

He definately has some staffie in him. He might be a bit underweight, it’s not uncommon when adopting from a shelter due to either being a stray or having poor owners before getting to the shelter. I’d say he’s maybe a staffie/am bulldog mix or maybe some mastiff? the shelter should have their best guess listed on petfinder.

It looks like a mix – maybe with some german shepherd or maybe mastiff. I don’t know, but either way it’s a cute dog!
It’s probably what is confused as a Pitt Bull these days!

Who cares if he is a pure breed Am Staff. He is Super cute!!! Look at those big brown eyes! And he looks like he is still young, and going to fill out more as he gets older. And he needs a good home. If you feel like you can give him a good home, I would visit him, just to make sure you like him as much in person as you do in his picture. I’m glad to see you are choosing to adopt a dog!! Good Luck!

He’s a mix and his ears are a home cut, so I would wonder if someone may have tried to train him to fight.

He certainly looks like he is part Staffie….as a rule staffies have a broader head then this guy. I’m concerned about the cropped ears though. That is usually done for one reason, and that is for Pit fighting.Who and where are you getting this dog from? If I were you, I would look into it deeper just to be on the safe side.

Compare your pic to the AKC site. Yours is much longer legged and gracile. Looks like it has a touch of Boxer.
If your animal is not papered — as though that REALLY means anything from the AKC** — it does seem very important to other people.

He definitely looks like he has some Amstaff in him, but he doesn’t look purebred; however, the way he looks could be just genes or it could be that he’s malnurished or just hasn’t begun to fill out yet. There’s really no way of telling – a lot of things could be factors in why he’s “cutesy”. Regardless, he’s a great looking dog.
As for the ears – how silly are the posts above me. His ears look too good (and I’m using the term loosely, I think they look horrible but they look just like they’re meant to look) to be some stupid owner’s work. They look a little off-color, though, so make sure you get them checked, just in case.
As for the silly person who said people only crop a dog’s ears for one reason – that’s foolish and idiotic thought. APBTs/Amstaffs are not the only breed of dog to have their ears cropped (Great Danes, for instance, generally have their ears cropped). I know dozens of responsible, intelligent APBT/Amstaff owners who crop their Amstaff’s ears for aesthetic purposes; some just simply look better, some crop jobs get rid of ears faults (for instance: large, erect ears would be considered a fault according to the AKC).
