None of those breeds are really ‘pets’…they’re working dogs that need experienced handlers and most often, a ‘job’. They also are not the types of dogs you’d take to romp in a dog park or expect to be highly sociable with strangers and other dogs. They’re all great breeds but at your age I think a labrador, australian shepherd, golden retriever, or other more ‘mainstream’ breed is more suitable.

The Canaan Dog is a herding dog that is highly territorial, loyal to his people, a natural guard dog, and very vocal and persistent but easily trained.

The Beauceron is also a herding dog that is loyal, a natural guard dog, he is easily trained and obedient but should never be approached with fear.

The Dutch Shepherd is a non-AKC recognized dog but was recognised by UKC in 1995 and is still a “rare” breed that may be hard to find. Native to Holland, originally a sheepdog but is also a guard dog. Very loyal and intelligent as well as social and active. They need LOTS of attention and exercise.

With any of these 3 breeds you would need to be vigilant about strangers and guests coming over. These dogs are all wary of strangers…which is why they are good guard dogs. You will need to train them very well and socialise them with other dogs and people as much as possible to prevent any problems when they are older. Definite daily exercise, walks, bike rides, and training will be needed with any of these dogs.

If I had to choose (and could afford it) I’d go with the Dutch Shepherd. Since they are mainly overseas and cost a good bit I would go with the Canaan dog as a close 2nd and probably easier for you to care for in the long run.

Advises????? that not only isn’t a word, what you are trying to get isn’t even spelled correctly WITHOUT the “s” and the simplest thing to help you fill ALL of your FREE TIME is to RESEARCH each of the breeds and ask your mommy and daddy (who should have been making sure you did your spelling homework) if you can have one.
